Cameroon’s Eto Vows to Challenge Nigeria in WAFCON Quarters

Naomi Eto, a midfielder for Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses, stated that the team is fully committed to winning against Nigeria in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for Sunday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The match is crucial as the winner will advance to the semi-finals and secure an automatic ticket to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Despite Nigeria being the defending champions and favorites, Cameroon has shown strong performance in the tournament, finishing Group D unbeaten with two wins and a draw. Eto acknowledged Nigeria's footballing prowess but emphasized that Cameroon is prepared to fight for victory.

She mentioned that the team will stick to their game plan and approach the match with the same mindset that has brought them success thus far. Cameroon aims for their first WAFCON semi-final appearance since 2016, while Nigeria seeks to extend their record to an 11th continental title.
