Uba Sani Restores Christian Pilgrimage Sponsorship in Kaduna

The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has reinstated government sponsorship for Christian pilgrimages to Jerusalem, a decision praised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Reverend Caleb Ma Aji, the chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of CAN, made this announcement during an iftar event hosted by the governor for Christian leaders on Wednesday night.

He recalled that a similar request was made last year, and the governor promised to investigate the reasons behind the suspension of the sponsorship in 2015. Last year, 49 people traveled to Jerusalem under this program.

Bishop Joseph Yari, a former chairman of the Kaduna State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, also commended the governor for this restoration. Governor Sani emphasized that this decision aligns with his administration's philosophy of justice and equity, aiming to restore Kaduna State to its past glory and promote peaceful coexistence among various ethnic and religious groups.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between religious leaders and the government to deliver democratic dividends to the people.
