CAN Demands Action Against Oyo School Abductions

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, describing the incident as a national disgrace and a reflection of the frightening collapse of security across the country. In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its president, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the association expressed outrage over the armed attacks that occurred in broad daylight, highlighting the danger posed by organized criminal violence in the southwest region.

CAN lamented the growing public frustration over repeated attacks and the failure of authorities to dismantle kidnapping networks. The association called on the federal government and security agencies to coordinate immediate action to rescue the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

It stressed the importance of strengthening security around rural communities and urged the government to utilize all available resources to ensure the safety of schoolchildren, who should not have to fear for their lives while in classrooms.
