Carragher Doubts Carrick's Ability to Win Major Trophies

Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool legend, expressed skepticism regarding Michael Carrick's potential to win the Premier League or Champions League as the manager of Manchester United. Carrick, who took permanent charge after an interim role, led United to a third-place finish last season, ensuring Champions League qualification.

Carragher acknowledged Carrick's ability to stabilize the club but questioned whether he possesses the necessary qualities to secure the biggest trophies. He stated, “I personally just don’t think Michael Carrick’s got that stardust as a manager to win a Champions League or a Premier League.” Carragher suggested that while Carrick could position United well for future success, he might not be the right manager to achieve those major victories.

Additionally, Carragher criticized United's decision not to sign Mateus Fernandes, who transferred to Tottenham for £85 million, questioning whether the price was justified. Carrick has strengthened the midfield by signing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos and has only lost one pre-season match against AC Milan.
