Babcock University Denies Carter Efe's Fake Certificate Claim

Babcock University issued a public notice on June 29, 2026, clarifying that a certificate allegedly awarded to skit maker and singer Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhohwo Joseph Ef, claiming he graduated with a 'First Class Upper' degree, is fake. The university stated that the document does not reflect its academic standards and is not an official certificate.

It emphasized that no department or student association is authorized to issue academic certificates on behalf of the university. The institution warned the public to disregard any fraudulent documents and advised individuals to verify academic credentials directly with the registrar's office.

Babcock University reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its academic qualifications and stated that anyone involved in the creation or use of fake certificates would face legal consequences under Nigerian law for forgery and fraud.
