CBN Redeploys Deputy Governors to Enhance Oversight

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the redeployment of its deputy governors, effective June 1, 2026, to enhance policy coordination and regulatory oversight. Dr.

Muhammad Sani Abdullahi has been reassigned to head the Economic Policy Directorate, while Mr. Philip Chukwuemeka Ikeazor takes over as the new Economic Policy Director.

Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro will oversee operations as the new Operations Director, and Mr.

Lamido Abubakar Yuguda, previously in charge of operations, will coordinate the Financial System Stability Directorate. This restructuring comes as the CBN implements extensive reforms aimed at addressing inflationary pressures and strengthening the resilience of the financial system.

Ikeazor brings significant banking experience, having held senior positions at Union Bank, UBA, and Ecobank. Abdullahi, a former budget and economic planning commissioner in Kaduna State, has a strong background in public policy.

Yuguda has over 30 years of experience in financial regulation, while Usoro has extensive experience in commercial banking and financial services management.
