CDD Trains Journalists in Katsina on Conflict Prevention Through Strategic Communication

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) West Africa is leading efforts to train journalists in Katsina State on strategic communication for conflict prevention and peace promotion. The program manager, John Nanfa Laze, stressed the need for journalists to focus on peacebuilding through accurate reporting to prevent tensions and conflicts.

The training, conducted over two days, aims to enhance journalists' capacity to disseminate information that fosters conflict resolution. The initiative is part of CDD's broader conflict prevention and crisis response programs, in collaboration with international organizations like the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and funded by the European Union (EU).

Moham Dahiru Lawal emphasized the importance of fact-checking and ethical journalism practices to combat misinformation and prevent conflict-triggering narratives.
