Nigeria Prioritizes Border Security and Defense Production

During a lecture at the Joint Doctrine Warfare Centre on Tuesday, Major General Samaila Uba emphasized the importance of border security and local defense production as critical components of Nigeria's future defense strategy. Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede noted that advancements in indigenous technology will be pivotal in this strategy.

The military aims to enhance self-reliance and regional collaboration to tackle security challenges effectively. Uba stressed the necessity of joint operations among the armed forces, highlighting that efforts from a single service may not yield the desired operational outcomes.

He called for synergy among military branches to leverage their strengths. The lecture marked a significant milestone in strengthening joint military operations and coordination, attended by service chiefs, former chiefs of defense staff, and members of the diplomatic community.

General Christoph Gwabin Musa, retired, described Nigeria's security strategy as a whole-of-society approach, with the Joint Doctrine Warfare Centre established in July 2025 to facilitate military collaboration.
