CDS Oluyede Urges Troops to Intensify Fight Against Banditry

On Monday, General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), visited troops in Zamfara State to assess their readiness and address operational challenges in the ongoing fight against banditry in North West Nigeria. During his visit, he charged the troops to intensify their operations, declaring that Nigeria must be made safe at all costs.

He reaffirmed the military's determination to eliminate criminal activities in the region and stressed the importance of sustained pressure on criminal groups to restore security. Oluyede acknowledged the existing limitations in air support and indicated that efforts were underway to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Air Force.

He commended the Zamfara State government for its continued support, including the recent procurement of armored vehicles, which enhance operational effectiveness. Furthermore, he called for greater collaboration with local communities, particularly in intelligence gathering, emphasizing that credible information is critical to dismantling bandit networks and fostering peace across Nigeria.
