General Oluyede Names Borno, Yobe as Terrorism Hotspots

General Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff, identified Borno and Yobe states as significant contributors to the persistent terrorism in Northeast Nigeria. He made these remarks on Wednesday while addressing journalists upon his arrival in Borno State, following a series of bombings earlier in the week.

He highlighted the local community's responsibility in addressing and ending the menace of terrorism in the region, which has seen an upsurge in attacks, particularly during Ramadan. Oluyede stressed the importance of community ownership in resolving the issues, citing recent attacks in Kukawa as examples of local complicity.

His comments came in the wake of a bombing in Maiduguri that left 23 people dead and over 100 injured. In response to the attacks, the President instructed service chiefs to deploy to Borno State to address the security situation.
