CDS Oluyede Advocates AI Adoption for Nigerian Military

On September 18, 2026, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), urged the Nigerian Armed Forces to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced surveillance systems to address evolving security threats. This call was made during the commissioning of the Nigerian Defence Academy Command Centre and three additional projects in Kaduna.

The newly inaugurated facilities included the expanded RSM Oliver Nzalgana Parade Ground, a 500-capacity Ashanti Battalion Cadets’ Mess, and the renovated Ribadu Auditorium. Oluyede emphasized the necessity for the military to adapt to modern technological advancements to improve operational efficiency and situational awareness.

He commended the Commandant of the NDA, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, for his contributions to infrastructure development and highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards in military training and personnel welfare. Oluyede also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu for his support of the Armed Forces' development.
