Nigerian Army Enhances Operations with AI and Simulation

On Tuesday, at the Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria (LFSCN) in Giri, Abuja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, announced the Nigerian Army's commitment to strengthening the use of simulation technology, artificial intelligence, and data analytics for improved battlefield decision-making and operational readiness. Represented by Maj.-Gen. Umar Yusuf, Shaibu emphasized that simulation technology allows commanders to rehearse operational plans, anticipate adversary actions, and identify capability gaps.

He described simulation as a critical command instrument for analyzing threats and refining operational plans. The seminar, themed ‘Harnessing Simulation Technologies to Strengthen Nigerian Army’s Roles across Joint, Multi-Agency and Combined Operational Environments,’ aligns with Shaibu's command philosophy of transforming the Army into a professional and resilient force.

Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Wabili, Director-General of LFSCN, noted the necessity for the Army to adapt to emerging technologies used by both security forces and terrorists.
