Chel Excludes Osimhen, Nwabali from Eagles’ Squad

Eric Chel, the head coach of the Super Eagles, announced a significant reshuffle in the squad for upcoming international friendlies against Iran on March 27 and Jordan on March 31. Notably, he has dropped high-profile players Victor Osimhen and Stanlei Nwabali from the 23-man squad.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed this selection on Wednesday, highlighting Chel's intention to assess new options and reconfigure the team ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The squad retains experienced players like team captain Wilfred Ndidi and regulars such as Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman, who is expected to lead the attack.

Chel's selection includes returning goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and newly recalled players like Adeley Adebayo and Emmanuel Fernandez. The matches will take place in Antalya, Turkey, due to security concerns in the Middle East, with the original venue in Amman being relocated.
