Chelle Excludes Osimhen, Nwabali from Super Eagles Squad

Eric Chelle, the head coach of the Super Eagles, has announced the omission of Victor Osimhen and Stanlei Nwabali from the squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan. The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed this decision in a statement released on Wednesday.

Chelle has selected a 23-man squad that combines experienced internationals with emerging talents as part of an effort to reassess the team. Notably, captain Wilfred Ndidi is set to return to anchor the midfield alongside Alex Iwobi, while Ademola Lookman is expected to spearhead the attack in Osimhen's absence.

The squad reshuffle is part of preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with several players from the AFCON pool included. Nigeria will face Iran on March 27 and Jordan on March 31, with the matches scheduled to take place in Antalya, Turkey, and Amman, respectively, due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
