Sam Kerr to Leave Chelsea FC After Successful Tenure

Chelsea FC has confirmed that Sam Kerr, the club's record goalscorer in the Women's Super League (WSL), will depart when her contract expires at the end of the current season. Announced on Thursday, Kerr has scored 115 goals in 177 appearances for Chelsea, making her the leading scorer in the club's history.

The 32-year-old Australian captain has played a pivotal role in Chelsea's success, helping the team secure five WSL titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups, and a Community Shield during her six-year tenure. Reflecting on her time at Chelsea, Kerr expressed happiness and gratitude for her experiences and achievements at the club.

Despite facing challenges, including a 20-month sidelining due to a knee ligament injury and a legal issue involving racial harassment charges, which she was found not guilty of, Kerr has continued to excel on the pitch. In the current season, she scored 16 goals, just one shy of equaling Fran Kirby's record at the club.
