Chelsea to finalize £52m transfer of Maxence Lacroix

Chelsea is nearing the completion of a £52 million ($69.2 million) transfer for Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix. The 26-year-old French centre-back is anticipated to arrive at Stamford Bridge this week for a medical examination before signing a six-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2032.

Last season, Lacroix made 55 appearances for Crystal Palace, scoring three goals and providing three assists, playing a crucial role in the team's Conference League victory and their Community Shield triumph against Liverpool. He also received call-ups to the French national team for the World Cup, making three appearances.

Chelsea views Lacroix as a priority target among several centre-backs for this transfer window. In response to Lacroix's departure, Crystal Palace is seeking a replacement, with Augsburg's Chirsialain Matsima at the top of their list and Trabzonspor's Nigerian Chibuike Nwaiwu considered as a backup option.

Lacroix's arrival is expected to prompt significant changes in Chelsea's defensive lineup.
