Chelsea Finalizes £52M Deal for Maxence Lacroix

Chelsea has reportedly finalized an agreement to sign French defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for a fee of £52 million. The 26-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Friday prior to signing his contract.

Initially, Crystal Palace sought over £60 million for Lacroix, but they agreed to a reduced fee. Lacroix has expressed a strong desire to join Chelsea, despite interest from other clubs, and is seen as an ideal addition to manager Xabi Alonso’s squad.

Following his participation in the World Cup, Lacroix will require three weeks away from football before joining the squad at Cobham. This transfer raises questions regarding the future of current Chelsea defenders Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, and Mamadou Sarr.

Lacroix becomes Chelsea's second signing of the week, following Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, for whom the club invested £117 million, outbidding Arsenal.
