Atlantis Pediatric Hospital Defends Medical Team Amid Investigation

Atlantis Pediatric Hospital issued a statement defending its medical team after the interim suspension of its Chief Medical Director due to an investigation by a medical dental practitioners investigation panel concerning the death of Nkanu Eseg, the 21-month-old son of Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The incident reportedly occurred at Eurocar Multi-Specialist Hospital, and a coroner's inquest is currently underway.

The hospital received a letter dated February 25, 2026, delivered on March 5, notifying them of the panel's decision. Despite the suspension, the hospital expressed confidence in its medical professionals and emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of pediatric care.

The management noted that the ongoing court proceedings necessitate restraint in public comments to respect the judicial process. They extended condolences to Adichie and Eseg's family, describing the incident as deeply painful and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate fully with the coroner's inquest.
