China Sends Medical Team to DRC for Ebola Control

On Tuesday, the Chinese government dispatched a high-level medical expert team to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to support efforts in controlling an Ebola outbreak that was declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization on May 17. The team, consisting of experienced epidemic control experts, aims to strengthen cooperation with local medical and public health agencies in the DRC.

They will provide preventive treatment and training to local healthcare facilities. The Chinese National Health Commission (NHC) stated that the team will share their epidemic response experience based on local conditions to enhance the DRC's capacity for Ebola prevention, control, and treatment.

The outbreak began with the 24th batch of the Chinese medical team currently active in the DRC, focusing on establishing a prevention and control system, conducting training drills, and coordinating supplies to improve the living environment for team members who remain on the clinic front line to protect the health of local people.
