Golden Eaglets Fall to Tanzania in China Invitational

In the opening match of the four-nation China Invitational youth football tournament, Nigeria's Golden Eaglets faced a 3-2 defeat against Tanzania. The match commenced with Tanzania taking a commanding lead, scoring two goals by halftime through players Issa Chole and Hamisi Chenga.

After the break, the Golden Eaglets responded positively, managing to pull one goal back. However, Tanzania quickly restored their two-goal advantage when Kassim Juma scored a superb effort, bringing the score to 3-1.

Nigeria managed to reduce the deficit again shortly after, but despite their efforts, they could not find an equalizer. The Golden Eaglets, who are five-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, will now shift their focus to their next match against Australia, aiming to secure their first victory in the tournament.

This competition serves as part of their preparation for the WAFU B U-17 Championship scheduled for September, which is crucial for qualifying for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
