Zhang Boheng Claims Asian Games Gymnastics Gold

Zhang Boheng secured the men’s all-around gymnastics gold medal at the Asian Games held in Nagoya, defeating Japanese gymnasts Shinnosuke Oka and Daiki Hashimoto. Zhang, who is 26 years old, overcame a minor injury prior to the competition, which he acknowledged affected his performance.

He emphasized his growth as an athlete, stating he has been reviewing his shortcomings and adjusting technical elements to enhance his maturity in the sport. Zhang previously finished second to Oka at the Paris Olympic Games and to Hashimoto at the last world championships.

Oka, competing with a back injury, had to downgrade the difficulty of his routines, stating that he managed to perform through injections and oxygen therapy. He noted that he could not execute certain skills due to the pain.

Zhang aims to replicate his success at the upcoming world championships in Rotterdam.
