Young Swimmer Yu Zidi Sets Record with Third Gold Medal

Yu Zidi, a 13-year-old swimming star from China, achieved a remarkable feat by winning her third gold medal at the Asian Games in the 400m individual medley. She led the race from start to finish, setting a new Games record of 4 minutes 28.56 seconds, which surpassed the previous record that had been in place since 2014 by nearly 4.5 seconds.

This time ranks as the fourth fastest in the world for the year, with only Summer McIntosh of Canada, the world record holder, having a quicker time. Yu finished 3.95 seconds ahead of her compatriot Ke Wenxi, who secured the silver medal, while Japan's Mio Narita took home the bronze.

Yu had previously won gold medals in other events in Nagoya, both in Games record times, and she is being widely regarded as a strong contender for medals at the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
