Kingsley Chinda Resigns from PDP, Joins APC as Leader

Kingsley Chinda, representing the Obio Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers State, has officially resigned from his position as the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and left the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). His resignation letter, dated April 23, 2026, was read on the floor of the House by Speaker Tajudeen Abba.

Chinda's departure comes amid significant political realignments in Rivers State, particularly as he appeared alongside loyalists of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Although Chinda has not formally announced his resignation from the PDP, his involvement in the APC screening process has fueled speculation about his political future.

In his resignation letter, he expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their support and assured them of his commitment to continue discharging his legislative responsibilities despite relinquishing his leadership role.
