Chinese Expert Urges Nigeria to Diversify Economy and Fight Corruption

Professor Wenp, affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a lecture in Beijing during a seminar organized by China's Ministry of Commerce, which included 33 participants from nine developing countries, including Nigeria. He urged the Nigerian government to diversify its economy and focus on sectors beyond oil revenue to ensure stable income and job creation.

Wenp highlighted the need for Nigeria to combat corruption, stating that a genuine war against corruption is essential for economic growth. He noted that Nigeria's reliance on oil income limits its economic potential and emphasized the importance of developing industries such as manufacturing.

Wenp also advised the Nigerian government to utilize the current surge in oil prices to save money for investment in diverse sectors. He stressed that unity among African countries is crucial for development and that citizens should be empowered to monitor government officials to combat corruption effectively.
