CHRICED Warns Against Interference in Abuja Chief Judge Probe

The Civil Society Organization CHRICED, led by Executive Director Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, has issued a warning against any interference in the investigation of the Chief Judge of Abuja.

The statement, released on Saturday, highlights concerns regarding influential figures within political and judicial circles attempting to lobby President Bola Tinubu to halt or delay the probe conducted by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). The investigation centers on allegations against Justice Tsoho for failing to declare assets as required by law.

CHRICED cautions that any obstruction of this investigation would undermine the rule of law and weaken public confidence in Nigeria's anti-corruption institutions. The organization recalls the failure to properly declare assets that led to the removal of former Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

CHRICED urges President Tinubu to resist any pressure to interfere and calls for the National Judicial Council (NJC) to handle the matter in a manner that strengthens public confidence in the judiciary.
