Chris Okafor Recounts Harrowing Kidnapping Experience in 2012

Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation, shared his traumatic experience of being abducted in 2012 alongside his assistant during a press conference. The incident occurred after a series of evangelist crusades across the country, following the conclusion of a crusade in Awka, Anambra State.

Okafor explained that after intense travel for his ministry, his team planned to leave Awka for Benin City but were attacked on the way. Gunshots were fired, causing their vehicle to somersault, leading to their abduction.

Okafor and his assistant were blindfolded, driven to an undisclosed location, and held captive for 58 days in harsh conditions. Despite ransom payments and experiencing several life-threatening situations, they were eventually released.

Okafor's return to his village in Anambra State was met with shock, with his mother reportedly fainting upon seeing his weakened state. The ordeal marked a turning point in his life and ministry, leading to a period of recovery and reflection.
