Buhari's Former Aide Denounces Claims of Christian Persecution in Northern Nigeria as Political Propaganda

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to President Buhari, criticized claims of Christian persecution in northern Nigeria as politically motivated propaganda during a recent large Christian gathering in Maiduguri, Borno State. Ahmad accused indigenous people and IPOB agents of spreading false narratives to distract from the actual treatment of Christians in the region.

He also criticized the US government for allowing themselves to be misled by such misinformation. The situation on the ground, according to Ahmad, is far more nuanced and different from the distorted narrative being sold abroad.
