Chika Chukwumerije Leads Abia Taekwondo Association

Chika Chukwumerije, an Olympic bronze medalist and former African champion, has been appointed as the chairman of the Abia Taekwondo Association, along with a 13-member board, in a formal announcement made last week by the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu. Chukwumerije expressed gratitude to the state leadership for entrusting him with this responsibility, emphasizing his commitment to developing sports in Abia.

He aims to identify and nurture young talents, particularly in schools, with a vision to groom world-class athletes. Chukwumerije highlighted the potential of sports to transform society and mentioned Aba's industrial capacity as a hub for producing sports equipment.

He assured stakeholders of the association's commitment to collaboration, promising that within four years, Abia would produce not just local champions but athletes capable of shining on the global stage. The newly inaugurated board includes Dr.
