Philadelphia Launches Transport Plan for FIFA Fan Fest

The City of Philadelphia has announced a comprehensive transportation plan in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Fan Fest, which will take place at Lemon Hill in Fairmount Park. Mayor Cherelle Parker stated that the city is investing $450,000 to enhance transit services, specifically through the expansion of the PHLASH transit service to connect the city’s historic district directly to the Fan Fest site.

Additionally, SEPTA will implement detours and increase bus capacity, adding multiple routes and extra vehicles during rush hours. To manage traffic effectively, several road closures will be enforced around the Lemon Hill location, particularly along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and local streets, from mid-June to mid-July.

Residents in affected areas will need to obtain temporary parking permits. The city aims to facilitate access for pedestrians and cyclists while ensuring public safety and smooth operations throughout the event.
