Rivers Civil Servants Praise Gov Fubara's Welfare Efforts

Civil servants in Rivers State have applauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his strides in worker welfare and development. During a press conference in Port Harcourt, Chukwuka Osumah, the state chairman of the Nigerian Civil Service Union (NCSU), emphasized the importance of the governor's presence at the upcoming Labour Day celebrations, which were overshadowed last year due to political tensions.

Osumah urged Fubara to prioritize attendance, as civil servants are eager to publicly demonstrate support for his administration. The NCSU highlighted consistent salary payments, pension settlements, and infrastructure upgrades as significant achievements.

They also noted ongoing recruitment in the education sector and policies aimed at retaining experienced teachers. Osumah called for the governor to address lingering worker demands during the celebrations, including a review of the pension scheme and civil service structure.

Leticia Macpeppl, the union treasurer, expressed confidence that this year's celebrations would reinforce the relationship between the state government and the labor force.
