Fubara Reaffirms Commitment to Peace on Rivers@59

On the occasion of Rivers State's 59th anniversary, Governor Siminalayi Fubara reaffirmed his administration's commitment to peace, unity, security, and inclusive development. In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday, Fubara acknowledged the resilience and strength of the Rivers people despite challenges faced over the years.

He highlighted the strong bonds among various ethnic groups in the state, including Ijaw, Ikwerre, Ogoni, Ekpey, Andoni, and Kalabari, which he described as a significant strength of Rivers State. Fubara noted that the state is a major driver of Nigeria's economy, not only due to its oil and gas resources but also because of the contributions of its people across various sectors.

He assured the citizens that his administration would continue to prioritize policies that promote peace and protect lives and property while expanding development across all local government areas. Fubara also paid tribute to the elders and leaders who have preserved the spirit of unity and coexistence in the state since its creation on May 27, 1967, by former General Yakubu Gowon.
