Taraba Govt Requires Civil Servants to Resign for Election Contests

The Taraba State government has declared that civil servants wishing to contest elections must resign from their positions. This decision was reinforced during the Adamawa State ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Chairman of the PDP Adamawa Ward Congress Committee, Timothy Kataps, emphasized that the constitution guarantees freedom of association but requires civil servants to resign if they want to run for office. This move aims to ensure that civil servants do not hold dual public offices, aligning with constitutional provisions.

The PDP expressed optimism about the congress's conduct across Adamawa's 226 wards, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic principles within the party.
