CJN Kudirat Ekun Addresses Corruption Allegations Against Judiciary

Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun expressed concern over the increasing trend of blanket corruption allegations against the judiciary during a ceremony where 14 new judges of the Federal High Court took their oaths of office at the Supreme Court in Abuja. She acknowledged that while judges are not infallible, indiscriminate accusations against the entire judiciary undermine the institution's integrity and public trust.

Ekun warned that such unfounded allegations could unjustly tarnish the reputations of dedicated judges. She emphasized the judiciary's commitment to addressing misconduct transparently and maintaining independence.

To bolster public confidence, the judiciary has implemented measures to enhance evaluation mechanisms, ensuring merit and integrity in judicial appointments. This includes a structured process for public participation in the selection of judges, allowing for written comments on candidates.
