CJN Ekun Urges New Judges to Avoid Gifts and Parties

During the induction ceremony for new judges in Abuja, Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun advised the newly appointed judges of lower courts to refrain from accepting unsolicited gifts and from hosting unnecessary birthday parties. She warned that such actions could create future problems and undermine the integrity of the judiciary.

Ekun stressed the need for speedy trials and efficient case management to enhance public confidence in the judicial system. She also highlighted the crucial role of lower courts in filtering and streamlining the workload of superior courts, which directly impacts ordinary Nigerian citizens.

Babatunde Adejumo, the administrator of the Nigerian Judiciary Institute, congratulated the new judges and urged them to uphold the constitution and the rule of law, emphasizing the importance of their roles in shaping justice in the nation.
