CJN Kudirat Keker Ekun Advocates for Judicial Innovation

Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun urged for robust financial oversight and digital innovation to strengthen Nigeria's judiciary during the opening ceremony of a workshop on financial resource management organized by the National Judicial Institute in Abuja. She stressed the necessity of prudent financial management and effective monitoring to ensure judicial resources are utilized efficiently.

Keker Ekun acknowledged improvements in the welfare of judicial officers but noted that these gains have not significantly improved court infrastructure, particularly at the state level, where budget deficits and reduced allocations pose challenges. She pointed out that many judiciaries in the Global South have successfully modernized their justice systems despite budgetary constraints by embracing digital technologies.

Keker Ekun highlighted the implementation of the Nigerian Case Management System by the Supreme Court, which requires electronic uploads of court process records by 2026, marking a significant step towards a fully digitized and efficient judicial system.
