CJN Ekun Urges New Judges to Avoid Gifts and Parties

During an induction ceremony in Abuja, Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun addressed newly appointed judges of the lower court, advising them to shun unsolicited gifts and refrain from throwing unnecessary birthday parties. She warned that such actions could create problems for them in the future.

Ekun emphasized the need for speedy trials and the importance of maintaining public confidence in the judiciary. She urged the judges to work harmoniously with court officials and to manage court procedures effectively.

Babatunde Adejumo, representing the Nigerian Judicial Institute, congratulated the new judges and highlighted their crucial role in the legal system, particularly in filtering and streamlining the workload of superior courts. He noted that the appointment of judges is vital for the effective functioning of the legal system and for ensuring justice at the grassroots level.
