Clashes between herders, farmers claim life, cows, sheep in Bauchi

A clash between herders and farmers in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State resulted in the death of one person, several cows, and sheep. The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that a farmer, Irmiya Yohanna, was found dead in Kaduna village following the clash.

The village head reported the discovery on August 7, leading to a police investigation that revealed Yohanna was allegedly killed by unknown assailants. The police rescued 249 cows and arrested one suspect, Ahmadu Mairiga, in connection with the incident.

The Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State conducted an assessment of the scene and urged the community to remain calm while warning against any further breaches of the law. Efforts are being made to restore peace in the area through a collaborative approach involving relevant stakeholders.
