Civil Society Groups Back Jimoh Ibrahim as UN Envoy

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Nigeria, alongside 360 other organizations, has publicly endorsed Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim's appointment as Nigeria's permanent representative to the United Nations.

This declaration was made during a press conference in Abuja, where they described Dr. Ibrahim as a "true Nigerian global citizen" suitable for the diplomatic role.

Dr. Emmanuel Agabi, who convened the coalition, emphasized that Ibrahim's selection reflects a strategic decision aligned with Nigeria's aspirations for stronger global engagement.

The coalition noted Ibrahim's extensive experience, including his tenure as a businessman, legislator, and member of the ECOWAS Parliament, which equips him with the necessary skills for effective negotiation and representation. They urged stakeholders to support leadership decisions that strengthen Nigeria's voice in the international community and called for a balanced scrutiny of the appointment process to ensure it serves the nation's long-term interests.
