Jimoh Ibrahim Accredited as Nigeria's UN Representative

Jimoh Ibrahim has received his accreditation as Nigeria's permanent representative to the United Nations, as announced by the National Coalition on Tuesday. The letter of credence was presented by Jame Okoronkwo to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu.

This appointment marks a historic turning point in Nigeria's foreign policy architecture, emphasizing the deployment of the nation's intellectual assets on the global stage. Ibrahim, a senator with a rare academic pedigree, holds a Master's degree from the University of Oxford, a Master's from Harvard, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Cambridge.

His presence at the UN is expected to ensure that Nigeria's arguments are backed by intellectual rigor. The appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is seen as a testament to meritocracy.

Ibrahim is set to depart for New York on Friday, April 8, where he will be formally conferred with the Global Icon Diplomat Excellence Award.
