Jimoh Ibrahim Presents Letter of Credence to UN Chief

On Monday, Jimoh Ibrahim formally assumed office as Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations by presenting his letter of credence to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York. This ceremony marked the official commencement of Ibrahim's duties as Nigeria's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

During the ceremony, he conveyed goodwill from Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu and commended Guterres for his leadership and commitment to the principles of the UN Charter. Ibrahim highlighted the importance of Africa's role within the UN system and reiterated President Tinubu's ongoing support for Guterres, particularly during the General Assembly deliberations.

He emphasized Nigeria's backing for the G77 plus China bloc and called for a permanent African seat on the UN Security Council. Ibrahim also expressed Nigeria's support for the UN80 reform agenda, aiming to accelerate development across countries.

He underscored his mission to address security concerns and promote justice, while also mentioning economic reforms under Tinubu's administration.
