COAS Urges Troops to Intensify Operations Against Terrorism

On March 27, 2026, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nigerian Army, addressed troops at the Nigerian Army Armour Corps, 33 Artillery Brigade, located in Shadawanka Barrack, Bauchi. He urged the troops to sustain relentless and intelligence-driven operations against terrorist and criminal elements, highlighting the critical importance of troop welfare in the army's success in combating insecurity.

Colonel Appolonia Anel, the Director of Army Public Relations, noted that the COAS's directives were aimed at intensifying efforts to decisively engage and neutralize terrorist groups, bandits, and kidnappers within their area of responsibility. Shaibu reiterated the army's commitment to restoring peace and stability in affected communities and emphasized the need for professional tactics and efficient operations to deny criminal elements freedom of action.

He also assured that necessary operational logistics would be provided to support ongoing operations. Additionally, he visited the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Dr. Suleiman Rilwanu, to commend his support for the Nigerian Army's security efforts.
