COAS Shaibu Urges Troops to Intensify Offensive Against Terrorists

On March 8, 2026, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Shaibu directed troops to sustain their offensive against terrorist groups in North East Nigeria. This directive followed his assessment visit to the headquarters of the Joint Task Force in Maiduguri, Borno State, on March 7.

The visit aimed to evaluate the security situation and review ongoing military operations under the Hadin Kai operation. Shaibu commended the troops for their efforts and sacrifices in combating terrorism and stressed the need for improved intelligence gathering and coordination among units to maintain operational momentum.

He highlighted the importance of denying terrorists freedom of movement, particularly during the close phase of Ramadan and beyond. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the commander of the Joint Task Force, briefed the COAS on recent operational activities, achievements, and challenges faced in the theater.

The COAS reaffirmed the army's commitment to restoring peace and security in the region despite ongoing challenges.
