COAS and IGP Stress Unified Security Approach in Nigeria

During a visit to the Army headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and Inspector General Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the 23rd Inspector General of Police (IGP), highlighted the importance of a unified security approach to tackle Nigeria's evolving security challenges. They stressed the need for coordinated efforts among security agencies to effectively address internal security threats across the country.

The IGP commended the long-standing partnership between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force, describing it as crucial for achieving national security objectives. He expressed appreciation for the Army's role in training police personnel and enhancing operational effectiveness.

The COAS reaffirmed the Army's commitment to deepening inter-agency cooperation and shared experiences from their service in complex operational environments, such as the United Nations mission in Darfur. Both leaders acknowledged the support of the police in ongoing operations against banditry and kidnapping in Kogi, Kwara, and Niger states, noting notable successes and the need for sustained unity among security agencies.
