Umoafia Thanks Governor Eno for Support After Gold Win

Edidiong Umoafia, the Commonwealth Games weightlifting gold medalist, thanked Pastor Umo Eno, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, for his unwavering support during a phone call from Glasgow. Umoafia's achievement at the Commonwealth Games, where he set a new record with a combined lift of 319kg, was celebrated by the governor during a State Executive Council meeting.

Umoafia expressed that his success was due to the Akwa Ibom State Government's consistent investment in sports development. He also acknowledged the support from Elder Paul Bassey, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, and his family and friends.

Umoafia previously won bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and has shifted his focus to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California, aiming for further success for Nigeria.
