Nigeria Ranks Ninth in Commonwealth Games Medals Table

As of the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Nigeria holds the ninth position on the all-time medals table, having accumulated a total of 271 medals: 82 gold, 84 silver, and 105 bronze. This achievement places Nigeria among only nine countries that have surpassed the 250-medal mark in Commonwealth Games history.

Australia leads the all-time standings with 2,604 medals, including 1,003 gold medals, followed by England with 2,322 medals and Canada with 1,647 medals. Nigeria is recognized as the highest-ranked nation in West Africa and one of only two African countries in the top 10, with Kenya in tenth place, having won 258 medals, including 91 gold.

The historical rankings reflect the consistent participation of countries like Australia and England, which together account for more than half of the total medals won by the top 10 nations. The Commonwealth Games continue to be a significant multi-sport event, with ongoing competitions that may allow medal-less nations to achieve their first podium finishes.
