Team Nigeria Secures Seventh Place at Glasgow 2026 Games

At the 2026 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Team Nigeria achieved a commendable seventh place in the final medal standings, securing a total of 10 gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals. This performance made Team Nigeria the highest-ranked African nation at the Games.

Esther Nworgu earned Nigeria's first gold medal in the women's lightweight para powerlifting event. Other standout athletes included Ezekiel Nathaniel, who won gold in the men's 400-metre hurdles, and Goodness Nwachukwu, who set a new world record in the women's F42 discus throw to also claim gold.

Idris Riluwan won gold in the men's para-powerlifting event, while Chukwuebuka Enekwechi made history in the men's shot put. The overall standings saw Australia leading with 65 gold medals, followed by England with 26 gold medals and Canada with 18 gold medals.
