Community Leader Appeals to Abia Governor Over Torture Claims

Hon. Uduma Uguru, a community leader from Ohafia Local Government Area, submitted a formal petition to Abia Governor Alex Otti on February 24, 2026, regarding alleged kidnapping and torture involving Councillor Ek Daniel and a group of youths from Amaekpu Ohafia.

Uguru expressed concern over the prolonged delay in the investigation, which he claims was orchestrated by Deputy Governor Ikechi Emetu. He highlighted that the Department of State Services (DSS) had conducted preliminary investigations but no substantial progress had been made.

The petition details Uguru's allegations of inhumane treatment and torture, supported by video evidence circulating on social media since November 2025. He argues that the lack of official reports from the DSS or the Nigerian Police Force creates a perception of shielding certain individuals from justice, undermining public confidence in law enforcement.
