Governor Otti Confirms Kidnapping Attempts in Abia State

On February 3, 2023, during a media chat in Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State confirmed two separate kidnapping attempts that occurred in the Olokoro and Ubakala areas of the Umuahia South Local Government Area. The governor reported that security agencies acted swiftly in response to these incidents, which were believed to involve cattle herders who reportedly fled the scene.

The state homeland security intervened in the situation, which took place the previous week. Governor Otti also addressed other issues, including the ownership structure of the Enyimba Hotel and the recent flag-off of its reconstruction.

He mentioned that the reconstruction of the Radisson Blu hotel had begun and highlighted ongoing investigations into a controversial airport project initiated by a previous administration.
