Arochukwu Unveils Mary Slessor Library and Film Village

The people of Arochukwu kingdom unveiled the Mary Slessor Library in Amannagwu, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Abia State, in honor of Scottish missionary Mary Slessor, known for her work in women's rights and stopping the killing of twins. The traditional ruler, His Eminence Eze Eberechukwu Oji, announced that part of the library would display historical artefacts excavated in Ugwuakuma Village, thanks to donations from Dr.
Nwanganga Shields. The library, part of the Eze's 2nd coronation anniversary activities, will include items recovered by archaeologist Osinachi Nwosu and his team.
Eze Oji stated the library would be fully equipped by December 2026, aiming to become an e-library with computers and internet facilities. Additionally, an 'Arochukwu Innovation Hall' will be built to teach digital skills.
The community also plans to establish a Film Village in honor of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, serving as a training center for aspiring actors.
