Commuters Demand Repairs on Kaduna Expressway Amid Chaos

Commuters using the Kaduna expressway, particularly the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in Kaduna State, have voiced their frustrations regarding the poor state of the road, which has resulted in significant traffic congestion and frequent accidents. Yahaya Dauda, an official from the transport union in the Bakin Ruwa Kagoro unit, described the road conditions as intolerable, with vehicles often becoming stuck due to accidents.

He emphasized that the situation worsens with heavy trucks and reckless driving. Students like Bilkisu Zubairu have reported difficulties crossing the road safely, often arriving late to school due to stagnant water and traffic.

The Kaduna State Vigil Service, led by Aliyu Sulaiman, has initiated a joint task force to manage traffic and enhance pedestrian safety since April 28. Governor Uba Sani is reportedly making efforts to address these issues but is urged to provide additional resources for effective night operations.
